Maybe you have previously paid a visit to the IRS official website, browsing through the online tax forms and publications that may be relevant to you; in an effort to get your ducks in a row prior to you roll up your sleeves and tackle the odious task. Here we are in tax season, once again. Browsing through the online tax forms and matching publications is not the most efficient way to approach the task. Unless you are one of those lucky people, with a simple, uncomplicated tax filing situation, you possibly have not yet filed. I call it IRS-eze. Should you have tax questions pertaining to your filing status and business situation, your best starting point is a visit to a tax expert.
In reality, this plan might well drive you crazy with all kinds of mistaken hypothesis. Unluckily, most American taxpayers experience a certain amount of fear associated with doing the yearly deed, which possibly has a lot to do with the large number of taxpayers who postpone. Let’s face it. While, most probably, these forms, schedules and attending tax publications are written by native English speakers, which should make these online tax forms and their descriptive publications easy to understand, it just ain’t so! That nagging thought sits in your consciousness every day, as you struggle to just maintain your usual life on an even keel. Write out a profile of your circumstances and let them advise you as to which online tax forms you’ll need. This fear does not arise out of trying to cheat the tax man, but rather out of fear of not completing the tax return correctly, or having Mr. Tax Man cheat us! Once the tax preparer has enlightened you as to which documents and accompanying online tax forms you’ll need, you’ve got a start.
Get those and collect your documents. That is actually all the average taxpayer wants. Supply the figures and get it over with! These professional tax preparers attend any number of seminars and workshops each year, just in order to keep up to date from last year! Why? Because the IRS has taken completely normal, well educated persons and added a twist to their English language skills which defy common usage. As they say, a miss is as good as a mile, so if you think you were all up to slay in your understanding last year, you are indisputably out of date and misinformed this year! You have to wonder about the differences between the tax software programs and the IRS publications and online tax forms.
Why has not the IRS developed their own fool proof tax preparation software, asking questions of the user in plain English in a sequential, cover-all-the-bases manner, leading you to a correct tax return? Veer neither to left or right, should you spot some online tax form that appears to outfit your condition wholly. Remember, these publications are not straight English! The online tax forms and connected tax publications are living proof that these are documents that are crying out to be rewritten, in plain English that everybody can comprehend. Then, we would not need tax preparation software. Does the IRS own big chunks of stock in aspirin?
